Tuesday Policy Lunch—“Do Civil Society Development Programs (Really) Work?”

- Fron Nahzi is vice president for programs at the East-West Management Institute in New York City. He spearheads new initiatives in post-conflict societies for the Institute, a not-for-profit organization that promotes the rule of law, civil society, and free market systems across the globe. He has more than 17 years of international development experience in overseeing, evaluating, and developing projects in the Balkans, Central Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. Nahzi has extensive experience in developing and implementing civil society and media programs in transitional countries. Nahzi shares his experiences and expertise with the public via the media. Since 1991, he has been a regular contributor to the Institute for War and Peace Reporting and a guest analyst for CNN, BBC, and NPR. His articles have been published in European and American newspapers and journals, includingThe Independent and Newsday.

Women’s Personal Safety: Rape, Aggression, Defense Workshop

- The Rape Aggression Defense is a self-defense program for women. R.A.D. is a system of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques. This women-only workshop is an introduction to the full program. Risk reduction strategies will be discussed and physical defense techniques will be introduced.
