Students, Faculty, and Staff,

PASA is happy offer our Fall apparel order for Rockefeller College.  Below is a link to the order form.  We are offering a Hooded Sweatshirt and Travel Mug, each of which feature The Rockefeller College logo.  Two items to note:
– The sweatshirt will feature a black Minerva graphic on the back
– The travel mug will have purple and gold lettering, and will be available only in the black color.

You can drop off your order in Kara Pangburn’s office in Milne Hall.  Bring either a check or exact change.  Any questions, feel free to contact pasa@albany.edu.

Poet Major Jackson – Seminar
Location: Standish Room, Science Library

Summary:
The product of a tough Philadelphia neighborhood, Jackson transforms the everyday artifacts and pastimes of urban life— empty lots, low-rider jeans, iPods, squeegee blades, and basketball games— into rich and expressive symbols. A winner of the Whiting Writers’ Award, and the Witter Bynner Prize of the Library of Congress, he is the author of “Leaving Saturn” (2002) and “Hoops” (2006).

Russian Film Festival
Location: Humanities 039 (Uptown Campus)

Summary: War and Peace, Part II, Battle of Borodino (1967, not entire film, which is 403 min), directed by Sergei Bondarchuk (1920-94) this film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1968

LLC International Film Festival
Location: Humanities 354 (Uptown Campus)
Time: 7:30pm – 9:30pm
Summary: Flores de otro mundo (Flowers from Another World)  A party brings a bus full of single women to Santa Eulalia, a town in northern Spain that is lacking in single women ready to marry its abundance of middle-aged bachelors. The story revolves around three women; one from the Dominican Republic, one from Cuba, and one from Bilboa. (directed by Iciar Bollain, Spain, in Spanish, 1999, 108 min)

Summary: In this celebrated work of surrealism, a man pursues a woman through a palatial hotel— “a universe of marble and stucco, columns, moldings, gilded ceilings, statues, motionless servants”— insisting despite her denials that they had been lovers the previous year. The Village Voice said, “Hopelessly retro, eternally avant-garde, and one of the most influential movies ever made… Marienbad is both utterly lucid and provocatively opaque….” (French with English subtitles)

First Run Movie – The Dark Knights

Summary: B
atman, Gordon and Harvey Dent are forced to deal with the chaos unleashed by an anarchist mastermind known only as the Joker, as it drives each of them to their limits.
